The trend evolution chart helps you track how topics in your landscape, trends or themes in your radar chart or selected metadata field evolve over time. It uses a bump chart visualization to show relative ranking changes across periods, allowing you to identify changes over time.

Depending on your selection, each band in the chart can represent:

  1. Trends or themes from the Radar view

  2. Topics identified in the landscape from the Explore view

  3. Custom metadata fields such as country, source, etc.

The horizontal axis shows the time unit, and the vertical axis shows the volume i.e., the number of documents. The position of each topic indicates its ranking at a given time. Items that appear higher on the chart have a higher total number of documents. The thickness of each band reflects its volume for a given point in time.

Open the sidebar through the arrow to configure your chart.

Choose the relevant data source:

  1. Topics: Displays topics from the selected level of broadness in your landscape.

  2. Documents: Uses metadata fields from connected Knowledge Bases.

  3. Radar: Shows trends or themes based on results from the Radar view.

Topics

Select the desired broadness level of topics to display from your landscape in the Explore view.

  1. Level 1 represents the most specific topics.

  2. Level 5 shows the broadest topics at the most zoomed-out level.

Choose the level that best matches the granularity you need for your analysis. Click “Save” to load the chart.

Documents

This option uses the metadata fields from your connected Knowledge Bases. Select a metadata field from the dropdown to visualize how its values evolve in the chart. Click “Save” to load the chart.

Radar

Choose "Categories" to analyze the evolution of main sectors from your Radar view, or select "Subcategories" to track the evolution of the individual bubbles (subcategories) shown in the radar. Click “Save” to load the chart.

Collapse the sidebar.

Use the dropdown to select the period and optionally normalize the values. Enabling normalization adjusts rankings to reflect proportional changes within each period, making it easier to compare relative shifts.

To download your trend evolution chart, click the download icon located in the top left corner.

To publish your trend evolution chart, use the icon to the right of the download icon.

Share settings

Invite members: Type the email address of a teammate in your organization. Use the dropdown to select their role (e.g., Viewer or Editor), then click Add.

Members with access: This section shows who has access. If you have created the Insight Booster project and have not shared with anyone yet, you should see your email address only.

General access: Set the visibility of the chart for others i.e. ‘Restricted’ vs. ‘Anyone with link’.

'Restricted' option will only share the project with the team members you explicitly add; and 'Anyone with link' will grant access to anyone with link.

When you're ready, click “Save” to confirm.
